Warmest greetings, dear friend and reader!
Whether you realize it or not, you are on a journey.
You have been on this journey at least since the day you were born, and you will not stop journeying at least until the day you will pass away.
This journey is, of course, your life.
It is also true that your life is a big “meta-journey”, containing within it a constellation of other, lower-scale journeys; big and small alike. But let’s stay for now with what is from your perspective the biggest journey of them all, the one that encompasses your entire lifetime.
I believe it would be hard to argue against the fact that any journey requires at least four things to be considered as such:
- A point of departure (origin);
- A point of arrival (destination);
- A means of transportation (vehicle);
- A driver of said vehicle.
In the case of your life, the origin would be your date of birth, while the destination would be your date of death. Here, we can quickly draw an important conclusion: when it comes to any journey, the main (if not the only) usefulness of having an origin and a destination is to define the spatial and temporal parameters of it in order to distinguish it from the chaos of everything else going on in the world, and thus being able to study it in a conscious and focused fashion. Other than that, the origin and the destination are per se of rather low significance. What truly matters is what happens within the area between these two milestones.
Let’s now come to the really important elements of your life’s journey: vehicle and driver.
To begin with, I am confident that it would be easy for you to agree that, in this case, both the vehicle and the driver are directly related to the way you are (or have grown accustomed to be) aware of yourself. That is, neither the vehicle nor the driver of your life’s journey is something completely outside your sphere of control. I trust that this assumption is intuitive enough, so I will assume your acceptance of it.
Let’s now go a step further, or deeper.
The real difficulty begins when we want to distinguish what constitutes the vehicle from who the driver is. This is where the need for a true introspection begins.
Perhaps I am being too bold, but I also believe there will be no objections raised if I maintain that you, as an individual human being, are characterized by at least two primary aspects:
- Your Body, consisting of your physical infrastructure, corporeal functions and sensory perceptions; and
- Your Mind, consisting of your intellectual capacity and mental faculties (basically, your thoughts).
That the Body is (at least part of) the vehicle of your life’s journey, and not its driver, is also an assumption that I will not discuss, in view of it appearing reasonable enough from the conventional viewpoint of our times. But what about the Mind?
Mind should then be the driver, right?
Not really.
Even though we are already now climbing up a (very) slippery slope, I will venture to propose that the Mind is not the driver of your life’s journey; in other words, the Mind is not who you are. Because, if it wasn’t evident up to now, the question of the identity of the driver in this respect is but the question of your true identity.
Again, here I am rather confident in my expectation of you resonating with the idea that there is an aspect of you which is deeper and more fundamental than your Mind: a stratum, in which notions such as your motivation, your drive, your preferences, your inclinations, your moral principles (and others) originate, and which possesses the capacity of experiencing and / or processing your feelings or emotions. Let’s call this stratum your Soul or, if this term makes you feel uncomfortable in any way, shape or form, your Individual Consciousness.
Alright, so now we must have tackled this, right? Your Body and Mind are the vehicle, which then makes your Soul or Individual Consciousness the driver of your life’s amazing journey.
Right??
Hmmm… I’m afraid there is still an issue; one that is rather important. And here we are reaching depths that you may have not, thus far in your life, considered exploring.
The issue is very delicate, but it’s also of enormous significance. And the following statement should also be uncontested: finding out who you truly are (which includes who / you can truly be-come) is the most essential quest you will – you must – undertake in your life.
It’s so important that I went ahead and wrote a book about it, fittingly titled «WHO ARE YOU?». It contains an 18-step self-knowledge guide, based on some of the most powerfully transformational teachings of ancient Greek mythology and philosophy, which I have been studying since the very early days of my life.
«WHO ARE YOU?» is aiming at guiding you to answer, as profoundly and comprehensively as possible, this question for yourself. More accurately, it assists you in grasping all the key aspects of yourself, in a way that is based both on theory and dynamic practice. Because self-knowledge is far from a static process, as it goes hand in hand with self-realization.
After you have read «WHO ARE YOU?» and practiced the recommended practical exercises, I truly believe that you will have all you need to proceed with and conclude your self-investigation, self-realization and self-transformation process.
And, perhaps, once you get there, you will realize you had always been there, but (what you used to define as) yourself was in the way of you seeing and embracing who you truly are.
Where is this “there”?
By nature, not much can be said about it; yet, this is the point where the origins and destinations of all journeys imaginable converge with the ever present moment; where it becomes clear that you and your world are but one and the same thing.
Who are you?
WHO is asking this question?
Find out, and all veils hiding your true nature from you will be forever lifted.
. . .
Other than the aforementioned «WHO ARE YOU?» , let me recall that my other two new books are (by clicking on their titles, you will be transferred to their respective Amazon page):
- «White City», a neo-noir mystery / speculative science fiction / psychological thriller novel of some 600 pages (don’t omit to check the fresh editorial reviews “White City” received, also found under the same link);
- «Manifesto», an unconventional socio-political treatise, which is underpinned by a strong metaphysical undercurrent and is a pertinent call for action to any independently thinking human being out there.
Happy and enjoyable reads! And, should you do me the honor of purchasing one or more of my books, please don’t forget to rate and review them in Amazon, once you have read them!
Until next time, enjoy the very last days of this momentous year, keep safe and remain alert!
