Alex Exarchos weekly newsletter II (21 December 2020): 40 things life has taught me so far

Warmest greetings, dear friend and reader!

As a special milestone in my life is coming up this week, I would like to share with you 40 things that She (life, that is) has taught me over the last 40 years.

Or, if you take it from another perspective, the first 40 years.

[Now I guess you know what the milestone in question is… ;)]

.                  .                  .

  1. Never give up trying to achieve whatever it is you truly want to achieve; do give up on having a fixed expectation of what will eventually happen as a result of your efforts.
  2. Finding who you truly are is the most important endeavor you will ever undertake, and it is a lifelong journey.
  3. At every single moment you have at your disposal everything you need to make the best you can out of it.
  4. You can never cheat your true self, no matter how hard you try (and you will try really hard).
  5. Do adopt some form of daily meditation practice; feel free to shape it according to your standards, needs and tastes.
  6. Use your mind, it can be a miracle worker; but don’t be used by it, it can be the worst tyrant.
  7. There truly exists only the present moment: it is always now o’ clock.
  8. The more you get in sync with your true self, the more you experience how fate and free will are but one and the same.
  9. You have no control over whatever is happening outside or even, sometimes, inside of you; however, you have absolute and exclusive control over how you process and react to any of these events.
  10. You always have a choice. Always.
  11. Every action or inaction has consequences.
  12. The body is a sacred temple sheltering your true self; treat it as such.
  13. Everything in the universe is connected with everything else; all things have a single, singular origin.
  14. Whatever happened, happened; whatever will happen, will happen; whatever happens is what truly matters.
  15. Nobody is more affluent than who is authentically generous.
  16. It is infinitely more practical and helpful for you to treat any synchronicity in your life as a pointer leading you to a place of meaning and growth rather than as a “meaningless coincidence”.
  17. You are always alone, but you are never lonely.
  18. Your true self is in this world, but is not of this world.
  19. A wholehearted laugh will cleanse you of all stains left on your soul by a dark moment.
  20. The facts are always infinite; thus, employment of the proper fact selection process is of the essence.
  21. Don’t believe the hype; believe (be, live) in your Flow.
  22. The true Teacher appears when the Student is ready; bless them both!
  23. Travel as much as you can, both around your inner and outer worlds; remain open, receptive and non-judgmental in your travels; taste, share, impress and express.
  24. All labels, without a single exception, do you disservice and injustice.
  25. If your starting point consists of scattered puzzle pieces, synthesize; if it consists of the big picture, analyze.
  26. Once you know you’ve done your level best and you cannot proceed any further with a task, stop, deliver it and celebrate the fruits of your effort; or, at least, accept them.
  27. Relive and anticipate the past and future feelings, not the events; once you do so, let them go.
  28. Always remain available, but be very prudent when it comes to choosing what you shall react to.
  29. Everyone you meet has – and is – (at least) one exciting story to tell.
  30. Desire and fear, craving and pain, can save your life when treated as momentary indications of a very specific action you need to take; they become a recipe for suffering, and even disaster, whenever you cling onto them.
  31. Share your life with another human being for you both to be mutually transformed into something common, wonderful, ever-growing and of indescribable beauty.
  32. Before you rush to forgive or ask for forgiveness, make sure you understand. If you do understand, chances are you need neither to forgive nor be forgiven.
  33. Pick up everything you can; at the same time, make sure your inventory is lean.
  34. Your need to give love is much stronger than your need to be loved.
  35. Eyes never lie; especially when tongues are tied.
  36. Everyone and everything is inherently invaluable.
  37. No need to be the savior, if you can be the catalyst.
  38. Bless the darkness and the horror, for there would be neither light nor salvation without them.
  39. Your happiness depends only on you.
  40. How can you ever stop when you are always beginning?

.                  .                  .

There you have it!

As a final note, since the holiday season is ante portas and I’m sure that some of you are still considering which gifts to provide your loved ones with, I warmly invite you to consider whether one of my three new books could do the trick for you in this respect [Spoiler Alert: I BET you it can! ;)].

Let me recall that my three new books are (by clicking on their titles, you will be transferred to the Amazon web shop, where you will have the chance of purchasing any, or all, of them):

  • «White City», a neo-noir mystery / speculative science fiction / psychological thriller novel of some 600 pages (don’t omit to check the fresh editorial reviews “White City” received, also found under the same link);
  • «WHO ARE YOU?», an 18-step self-knowledge guide, based on some of the most powerfully transformational teachings of ancient Greek mythology and philosophy;
  • «Manifesto», an unconventional socio-political treatise, which is underpinned by a strong metaphysical undercurrent and is a pertinent call for action to any independently thinking human being still out there.

Happy and enjoyable reads!

Very final thing: should you indeed do me the honor of purchasing one or more of my books, please don’t forget to rate and review them in Amazon, once you have read them!

Until next time, enjoy the holiday season, keep safe and remain alert!
