1. Master of shades
Sit down and write
Stand up and play
Tell wrong from right
Figure from clay
Don’t ask, don’t tell
Fire at will
Marriage in hell
Heavenly feel
Union flag
Jack of all trades
Mercury’s lag
Master of shades
2. ROM girl
In the grey classroom
With automatic voices
Pain amidst endless rain
Enter the ROM girl
Colours of all rainbows
Nothing to be afraid of anymore
Nothing to be ashamed about
She sits next to you
Who could make you crave for routine?
Who could anticipate the void in your soul?
Who will always be late and yet always on time?
Who will be your lender of last resort?
Who, Mister self-proclaimed poet in a banker’s suit?
ROM girl
In corridors, in platforms, in the canteen
ROM girl
Self-fulfilled prophecy but still
ROM girl
The facts don’t matter
ROM girl
Imagination will save us
ROM girl
We will never be alone
3. The tree I hugged
The tree I hugged the other day when I landed
On a distant planet with a scarlet moon and a dark horizon
Had a thick brown trunk and whispered to me: “friend, you are stranded
To the place where dreams are crashed and everyone dies in”
The tree you hugged an hour ago while crying
On a blind park without colour or movement
Absorbed you and then transformed you into a frying
Abstract image in the pan of selfless improvement
Them trees that like our hug and love let us forget
No one recalls us anymore and, anyway,
Living or dead, down or up, what we don’t get
Is that we’ll never understand what is the way
4. Drama King
Oh yeah
You won’t fight, you won’t flight
Sentenced to boredom for life
Ooh ooh
Feel the chill
Pay the bill
You are the Drama King
Monday morning and the mood is lame
You were never meant to play this game
One more day to be broken,
With endless fear as the token
Of all your shattered dreams
Friday evening and you don’t believe
That you’ll ever know what means to live
A life full of meaning and beauty
Without guilt, struggle or duty
To serve your darkness’s rule
You quintessential fool
You are the Drama King
Old and tired and nobody’s fling
Drama King
Senseless, worthless and rusty thing
Oh yeah
You won’t fight, you won’t flight
Sentenced to boredom for life
Ooh ooh feel the chill
Pay the bill
Of the light blue pill
Ooh ooh
Of your mindless deal
Ooh ooh
You are the Drama King
Never complain, never explain
Always refrain, always abstain
Don’t you dare go to zero
You’re not meant to be a hero
Everything is your fault
Never conceal, never reveal
Close the deal and eat up your meal
You belong in the culture
Owned by many a vulture
Devouring your soul
Honey, embrace your role
You are the Drama King
Old and tired and nobody’s fling
Drama King
Senseless, worthless and rusty thing
Oh yeah
You won’t fight, you won’t flight
Sentenced to boredom for life
Ooh ooh feel the chill
Pay the bill
Of the light blue pill
Ooh ooh
Of your mindless deal
Ooh ooh
You are the Drama King
5. The veil and the bow-tie
First the bride
Sits on a chair in the middle of the dance floor, takes off her veil and holds it, while blindfolded
Next to her the groom is also seated smiling ceremoniously
Her single girlfriends gather around her
They grab each other’s hands forming a perfect chain
And they wait
The music begins
Preferably it’s live
The girls start dancing
At an unspecified point in time
The music will stop
And the bride will throw the veil behind her
One of her girlfriends will catch it
Then the groom
Same as above; just two differences
Where “girlfriends” replace with “boyfriends” and where “veil” with “bow tie”
Now everyone (but for the lucky bride’s girlfriend, wearing the bride’s veil, and the lucky groom’s boyfriend, wearing the groom’s bow tie) steps away from the dance floor
The band starts playing a romantic song
To which the boy and the girl have to dance
While holding each other
When the music stops
The guests loudly stress their expectation for a kiss
Well, if it’s a kiss they want, it’s a kiss they’ll get
The bow tie is black
The veil is white
Boys belong to a pack
Girls are always right
Our kiss is hit and miss
Their kiss is bliss and abyss
6. Janet W.
Janet is tall and lean and blonde and smiles a little
Her look’s a bowling ball, my heart’s a helpless skittle
Janet swims in the pool of talents eyeing all newborn sharks
I am a lost cause with wasted potential, but still my words she marks
Janet, invite me for dinner
I’m just too shy to say no
Janet, I’ll never be the winner
Only the guy who shouts: “land ho”
How and why our paths are crossed, nobody really knows
Not even God or your colleague, who the whistle blows
Janet, for being unappraisable, I never really gave a damn
You see my bonus I received when I was just a little lamb
Janet, invite me for dinner
I’m just too shy to say no
Janet, I’ll never be the winner
Only the guy who shouts: “land ho”
And now they moan once again because I failed to deliver
My core objectives, without selling on the way my kidneys and my liver
So, Janet, you ought to manage me out since I never learned
How to give false hopes to staff members a second before I have them burnt
Janet, invite me for dinner
I’m just too shy to say no
Janet, I’ll never be the winner
Only the guy who shouts: “land ho”
7. Hanna in my head
Hanna in my head
Fire in my hand
I’ll never leave you behind
Whoever had you fed
With snow and sand
Made you one of a kind
Ride along with me
Even though you’re scared
I’ll make sure you’ll be alright
Allow your eyes to see
What my conscience flared
Back when future wasn’t so bright
All our little friends
Expect you to return
From each and every hard day’s night
To help you make amends
To give you strength to burn
Your soul’s dark and horrible knight
Hanna you’re a star
Rising in the north
With your pale blue tender light
No need to go far
Bring your beauty forth
And let’s begin our cosmic flight
8. Land of the divine
Somewhere beyond the fields of spring
Behind mountains tall and misty
Below a big old smoky ring
Lies the valley of the feisty
Or else, the land of the divine
Creatures forever out of line
Without logic or convention
Human or of an alien nation
Do not expect an invitation
This is no members only club
More like a phantom train station
An old welcoming workers’ pub
Residents dance, drink, fight and play
Like in our everyday world
The difference being that they don’t pray
To many a non-existent god
Forms, shapes and colours there don’t matter
Only the soul’s incessant chatter
Stemming from even way beyond
Perhaps Creation’s secret pond
What is their currency? Their passions
And their taboo? All kinds of fashions
Their fuel is the unexpected
Their motto: “Everything’s connected”
I close my eyes and I reflect
The darkest light I can select
Out of the cosmos’s palette
My paintbrush is my machete
By which I cut my way through
Life’s big and pointless grapevine
Hoping at least I catch one view
Of you, oh land of the divine
9. Mysterious attractions
The flower and the bird
The shepherd and the herd
My heart and yours, my darling
Mysterious and charming
The high and the fresh
The bone and the flesh
The low and the outlaw
The mask and the chainsaw
Attracted and attractive
A show that’s interactive
And never lets you down
My clown with a crown
The mini and the skirt
The button and the shirt
The restless and the young
The rapper and the gang
The dreamer and the crazy
The wealthy and the lazy
The teacher and the schools
The game and the rules
Attracted and attractive
A show that’s interactive
And never lets you down
My clown with a crown
The needle and the thread
The oven and the bread
The face and the mask
The talent and the task
The sounds and the word
The pieces and the board
Persephone and Hades
The student and his grades
Attracted and attractive
A show that’s interactive
And never lets you down
My clown with a crown
The master and the slave
The particle and the wave
The zero and the one
The hunter and the gun
The beauty and the beast
The scripture and the priest
The pair of Love and Death
In every single breath
Attracted and attractive
A show that’s interactive
And never lets you down
My clown with a crown
10. Pattern
Everything that exists
Summons the unexpected
Links the never more
Transforms the endless fire
Rises and is aware
Is humbled but stays put
And overhauls a pattern
And overhauls the pattern
I can’t sing, I’m watching you
I can’t play, I’m less or more
I can’t dream, I’m slowing down
Forever the words escape me
Moment by moment I find you
Stop, start, repeat, all, all, nay
I’m losing you, baby, horror, shine, shrine, my image, my hallmark or
She terminates the pattern
A pattern hasn’t got, a memory of pattern
Whisper, whisper
Amendments on the first act and the final one
That no one cares about
The pattern’s not around
A pattern is inside and knows not outside
How do you begin your day?
I’m free when it’s silent
I will only take no for an answer
My friends have tricked us into being
I was the last one of them
Coming out of the box that only opens
Rolling through sawdust and thorns
Staying childless
Mourning the savagery, holding back, surrendering, surrendering…
11. Pikku
Pikku, Pikku, are you here?
Answer me ‘cause I’m in fear
That I’ll lose you and thereafter
I’d be stranger to laughter
Pikku run, Pikku fly
I’m surrounded by a lie
All my misdeeds boil down
To the fact you’re not around
Pikku, tell me, where you’re now
Do they love you, do they bow
To your wishes or try they
Cunningly make you their prey?
“I’m not here, but don’t fear
I work hard for you, my dear
Doing your mind’s demonic lords
And I’m dragging you towards
Greener pastures and blue skies
And the warm, welcoming eyes
Of your friends and fellow questers
The eternal Tribe’s jesters”
Pikku, please don’t let me down
I’m a verb without a noun
Without you, I’m trapped in time
Anything I write don’t rhyme
Pikku, is it true that you
Have been jailed in Xanadu
For attempting to expose
The Emperor’s unseen new clothes?
Pikku, Pikku, darling Pikku
The most eloquent haiku
Would fail utterly and fully
To do justice to yours truly!
“I’m not here, but don’t fear
I work hard for you, my dear
Doing your mind’s demonic lords
And I’m dragging you towards
Greener pastures and blue skies
And the warm, welcoming eyes
Of your friends and fellow questers
The eternal Tribe’s jesters”
Will we meet before the sun
Will have swallowed everyone?
«I’ll be there, I promise thee
To break chains and set you free»!
