The sound of the future

The sound of the future comes not from the mind.

The sound of the future comes not from the body.

The sound of the futures comes not from the soul.

Our mind, our body, our soul, they may capture the sound of the future and interpret it and adopt it, by and in accordance with their particular qualities and standards.

But the sound of future does not originate in any of them.

The sound of the future resides in the unknown, the unshaped, the unnamed.

The timeless.

One has to foray into the unknown to discover what the sound of the – yet non-existent – future is and bless it – and curse it – with the gift – with the dark spell – of temporality.

In order for someone to venture into that amorphous and paradoxical void of nothingness, one must, first and foremost, dismiss all expectations and leave all certainty behind.

One has to walk where nobody has ever walked before with one’s ears open, being the most unprejudiced listener to have ever existed to date.

There’s no other way.

It’s an exercise which most of the time feels – and most of the time is – utterly futile.

But if done properly, it never is, even if the outcome – or lack thereof – does not seem, in retrospect, to justify it.

The sound of the future is inevitable.

The sound of the future is direct and unmediated.

The sound of the future changes, creates, determines.

The past, the present and their priorities.

Saving music from stasis.

Resuscitating the realm of life, which is always fragile and in danger of extinction.

When the sound of the future is conceived and enshrined in a proper and complete recording, it will be very soon acknowledged for what it is.

And it will not be the sound of the future – that is, of an unknown and ungraspable territory – anymore.

It will become the sound of the present.
